We've got a lot of exciting new products arriving this year, and the first cab off the rank is the new Martinez Southern Belle range of ukuleles - but first, a little back story.
In 2018, Martinez released their incredibly popular Southern Star range of guitars. These guitars featured solid top construction, a blend of traditional and contemporary tone woods, modern playability, beautiful finishes, naturally voiced pickup system and included a deluxe hard-shell case - representing incredible value for money in a highly competitive market.
What does any of that have to do with Martinez’s new ukuleles? Well, the all new Martinez Southern Belle ukulele range brings the same fantastic set of features and finishes to the world of ukuleles... and then takes it a step further!
The entire Martinez Southern Belle range features adjustable truss-rods, an invaluable addition to any ukulele for players who live in climates that experiences significant weather variation. The truss-rod also provides extra peace of mind for players who live in more moderate climates, and are preferred by players who value the additional setup control a truss-rod provides.
In addition to their adjustable truss-rod, the Southern Belle range offers players the choice between traditional and cutaway models in all sizes and finish variations – giving players the ability to choose between unparalleled fretboard access and playing comfort, or the full bodied sound and look of a traditional non-cutaway design.
Available in concert, tenor and baritone models, Martinez is offering all three of the original Southern Star series’ distinctive designs across the entire Southern Belle range. Players can choose from the all mahogany “6” series, spruce top with three-piece figured ebony and mangowood back and figured ebony sides “7” series, or the all koa “8” series. But no matter the series or model you choose, all Southern Belle ukuleles are fitted with the fantastic UK-500T pickup system and Aquila Nylgut strings, and include a deluxe hard-shell case.
